06.29.10

I was considering wearing sandals, but thought I might end up doing more walking than my fancy sandals would comfortably allow, and felt too under-dressed with my more casual sandals. Good thing I looked somewhat decent - I was called into an impromptu meeting with a higher-up.

By the way, I recorded my very first review/vlog/haul type video! I talk about purses for traveling. Please check it out, and be kind - I've never made one of these (or any type of video) before!

I'm not happy with this photo. Oh well. Back to work today after my long weekend. Luckily I have another long weekend coming up with the holiday.

06.25.10 + 06.26.10

I went on an overnight trip to New York City. Comfort in the heat, and while walking around, was key. To keep things simple, I wore black and purple on both days of my trip. Never really took any "official" outfit photos, but wanted to share.

Shirt - H&M
Camisole - Old Navy
Shorts - Old Navy
Necklace - Stella & Dot
Sunglasses - Dockers
Shoes - Skechers

What you don't see in either picture are my Skechers Bikers, which are so comfortable and perfect for a day of walking. However... I did end up with a little zig-zag strap suntan on the tops of my feet :o)

...Whoops, my husband sneaked into this shot, can you see him?

Top - Merona
Capris - Old Navy
Necklace - Stella & Dot
Purse - Merona
Shoes - Skechers

This was a great necklace to bring on vacation, because you can wear it long or short, so it's like 2 in 1. I wore it short both days for running around the city, and changed it to long to wear to the theater on Saturday night.

06.21.10

It was the first day of summer, and it was super hot. Yes, this is the same skirt I wore on Friday. It's fine, nobody sees me at work anymore.

Shirt - Merona
Skirt - Merona
Sandals - David Tate
Earrings - Stella & Dot
Watch - Mossimo

These earrings are the last Stella & Dot things I haven't worn yet. They're also the only things I bought out of the catalog, without seeing them in person. I'm happy with them.

This is a very bad picture. Oh well. It was another hot day - too hot even for capris again.

Shirt - Merona
Shorts - Old Navy
Flip-Flops - Old Navy
Earrings - Stella & Dot

My friend and I went out for lunch and pedicures this afternoon! This was only the second time in my life I've had a professional pedicure, but I think I could make it a regular habit - at least once or twice a summer :o)

06.19.10

I had an incredibly long day. My husband and I were up early to go to the farmers' market and do some other errands. Then we caught the train into the city to go to a public radio event. We stopped for lunch, took the train home, got cleaned up, then drove to visit friends almost an hour away. We didn't get home until 11 PM! Plus we were outside for much of today, and it was hot and humid!

This was the first time I wore my new Goody Spin Pins out in public. It was nice having my hair up off my neck, and not having to worry about the bun falling out or loosening. But I think it will look much better when my hair gets a little longer.

06.18.10

Fridays at work in the summertime are so long and boring. It seems like nobody is in the office. So we went out for lunch, and water ice for dessert.

Here is the last of the tops I got at Ross over Memorial Day weekend. I really like this one! So light and comfortable, and I think the neckline is very flattering. I like the colors, too. My husband said it was "high contrast."

06.14.10

It was so humid, I really wanted to wear a skirt today. However, it might not have been the best choice, because I spent much of the morning crawling under and climbing over my desk, getting my computer set up. (The IT guys did it wrong when I was moved to my new desk over the weekend!)

I kept forgetting to post this, but last week I was nominated for the Beautiful Blogger Award by Natalie of Two Preps in a Pod. As I explained last time, I don't really write much about myself on this blog, and it's hard for me to write lists of stuff about myself anyway, so I'm going to base my 10 (it's up to 10 now!) facts on the ones my lovely nominator wrote about herself.

  1. I'll usually watch whatever freakshow TLC is broadcasting.

  2. My first real job was at a video game store. I never owned a video game, I think they just hired me because they wanted a girl in the store.

  3. I love the area where I live. I do want to move - to about a mile down the road.

  4. My husband has a Sirius radio and I hate it. They never play anything I like. My favorites are probably too obscure.

  5. I judge a restaurant by their coleslaw.

  6. I have a cup of tea almost every morning. If I'm at home, I like loose leaf tea, but for work, my favorite bagged tea is Bigelow Vanilla Chai.

  7. The first cookbook I ever got was the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. I still refer to it.

  8. I am lucky to have married someone whose family is minutes away from mine - we don't have to choose who to see on holidays!

  9. I think Fringe and 30 Rock are the best shows on TV right now.

  10. Summer is my least favorite season. My favorite is fall - and not just because it's my birthday season!

I'm really bad at nominating people for things, so if you've read this far and want to post your own facts, feel free to take the award graphic and list some interesting info. And then comment here so I can check out your answers!

06.11.10

I still wasn't feeling 100% better, but I had already planned to take the afternoon off work, so I figured I could handle sitting at my desk for four hours. Also, I was excited to wear my new necklace :o)

My friend who hosted the Stella & Dot party and I have exactly the same style, and actually we ordered a couple of the same things: the earrings I wore yesterday, and this necklace. In fact, I had to take it off of her at the party so I could try it on! I like that you can wear it long, or double it up like this and wear it shorter. The charms actually all have little dots and patterns hammered into them, but I kind of prefer wearing it backwards, with the blank sides facing out.

06.10.10

I suddenly got a cold the night before... and I really tried today... but I was so sick, I had to leave work early. I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening on the sofa, going through a million tissues and drinking a million cups of tea.

These new earrings are the result of the Stella & Dot party I went to last Friday. My order actually arrived on Wednesday - that was quick!

06.08.10

This shirt is another of my recent Ross finds. I like that it's an embellished top I can actually wear (no floofiness!), and it's like a comfy t-shirt with a little something different.

Shirt detail

Out of all the jewelry I don't wear, I wear bracelets the least. They just bug me, they're always bumping around on the desk, and metal usually makes me itchy anyway. I really like this little delicate one, though, and the buckle look is so neat!

06.07.10

I was planning on waiting until later in the week, but I ended up taking this morning to pack up my entire desk for my impending move. This probably wasn't the best outfit to do that in, but I was able to deal with it.

Shirt - H&M
Slacks - New York & Company

I'm still loving these H&M tops. Here's the debut of number 2 of 4! I just had to watch it, because sometimes I looked down and was like, "Woah, cleavage!"

06.05.10

My wedding anniversary is tomorrow, but since so much good stuff is closed on Sundays, and we happened to have a free Saturday, my husband and I went to Baltimore, MD for the day. We went to a museum, walked around the inner harbor, and had a lovely dinner at a nice restaurant. I had been planning to bring a change of clothes, but amazingly I was able to spend the whole day in this outfit! (I just wore regular Old Navy flip-flops for walking around during the day - I wouldn't have been able to make it even in these wedges.)

Top - Carolyn Taylor (from Ross)

Sandals - Bass

Natalie, this is the top I figured you'd like! Here's a close-up of the braiding at the neckline - I love it!

06.04.10

It's a two outfit day!
Almost everyone was either on vacation or working from home, so it was just me and one other person at work for most of the day. Which would have been fine, until the moving and construction began (a lot of people on our floor were moving desks this week). So we ended up skipping out a bit early... Shh!

In the evening, I went to a jewelry party, coincidentally hosted by the same girl I was stuck at work with. Lots of fun, and I bought some pretty pieces I'm excited to wear - hopefully I get them soon!

Weird, last time I wore this sweater it was with a shirt the same color as this skirt.

As I was getting dressed this morning, my husband asked if there were snowflakes on my sweater. I told him I thought they were flowers, and then he suggested they were dandelion fluff.

I got to debut two new pieces from my weekend of shopping at band practice tonight!

I've been looking for a while for some kind of embellished t-shirt, but they all have beading or flowers or goofy stuff on them. This one just has screenprinting (the gray flowers) and embroidery (the black ones). Let's see how it holds up in the wash.

06.01.10

The one good thing about going back to work after the holiday weekend is that I get to start wearing my new purchases!

Top - H&M
Slacks - New York & Company
Shoes - American Eagle
Necklace - Kathryn Riechert
Watch - Timex
Sunglasses - Nine West

I'm a fan of this top - good thing, because I got it in four colors, haha! I like that I can get the collared, button-down look without the collar or the buttons.

Also, I got this huge pair of sunglasses at Ross. I've wanted some big sunglasses since last summer, and these seemed sufficiently plain. What do you think, do they look crazy? I've been wearing them for a couple days now, they feel like wearing goggles in chemistry class.
