10.13.09

It was such a beautiful day today! I wore a jacket in the morning, but went out several times during the day and didn't need it.

Sweater - H&M
Slacks - New York & Company
Tank - Old Navy
Shoes - What's What

I went to the mall tonight to look for some of the things Kimberly recommended for me. I actually liked a lot of the items she suggested, and there were some others I wasn't sure about but thought I would check in person. So here's how it turned out:

Forever 21: Kimberly recommended this 3/4 sleeve faux leather jacket, which I actually really liked in the photo. But in person, the leather was really crinkly looking, not smooth. Also, they only had smalls in the store. I would still get a 3/4 sleeve jacket. She also recommended a knit jacket that was sold out, but found a similar one. I'm not sure if I saw this exact one in the store, or another one (there were lots of similar belted knit jackets), but it seemed pretty bulky in person. I also found the braided pearl necklace, which was not bad, but significantly shorter than I like to wear my necklaces. My husband was also giving me a hard time about it. So I again passed.

Old Navy: I found the cowl neck sweater Kimberly suggested. I liked in the picture, but in person it is huge. I tried on a small, which was still enormous, and it just did not look good. I saw the patterned scarf, too - again, looked nice in the picture, but the quality just didn't seem good in person.

And finally, I did not see this exact pair of Steve Madden shoes that Kimberly suggested, but I stopped in at Payless and found two similar pairs - which were buy one, get one 1/2-off, so I bought both: these ballet flats in purple, and these in a blue/green/multicolor fabric.

So I'm excited about the shoes! And will keep my eye out for things that look more like what the other pieces seem like in the photos, rather than in person.

I always run into problems with F21, just like you described. It looks great in photographs, but then super cheapy in person.

I'm all for cheap - but I don't want to look it :)

It's hard to make the recommendations virtually because you can't tell how something is going to fit, etc. If you are ever in Indy we'll go shopping for real!

LOL, thanks! I know it's hard, and that's why I wanted to see things in person and try them on before I just ordered them online. It's a shame, because a lot of things I liked a lot in the pictures and then when I saw them at the store it was like, "ugh." But I'll look for things that are more like what I thought your recommended pieces would be :o)
